We’re on the cusp of kapha season, the season of earth and water. The days are getting longer and soon the first buds of spring will be poking out of the muddy ground. Like the earth, we experience more feelings of heaviness and dampness brought by the melting snow and spring rains.
While we are still in the winter months, vata may still be present for many of us. Vata season is the season of air and space. Vata can leave us feeling cold, dry and unfocused.
The quality that both kapha and vata have in common is they are both cold. We may be feeling cold physically, and (especially in combination with what’s going on globally) we might be feeling lonely or isolated.
Warmth is the key to staying balanced during this seasonal transition. Warmth in our bodies and the warmth in belonging.
I want to offer this Warming Winter Series as an opportunity to cultivate warmth together through:
Community & Connection: checking in, an opportunity to share and ask questions
A short talk on Ayurveda and how you can begin applying ancient Ayurvedic wisdom to create balance in your daily life
A balancing and warming Ayurvedic yoga class
A short mindfulness practice including a combination of Pranayama (breath work practices) and/or meditation to wind down for the evening
